COACHING, SPIRITUAL DIRECTION, CONSULTING

Stephen Baldwin, DMin

Stephen's journey has included singing in a rock band, touring in Italy and Spain on bicycle, and participating in collaborative learning communities in both Switzerland and Montana.

Stephen has been a pastor, missionary, and a church planter. All through this journey he discovered a love of coaching others.

Having grown up in a family of commercial contractors, an architect, and artists, he caught the entrepreneurial spirit early, along with a love of design, and the built environment. His family was full of music and artistry.

Stephen loves to connect with authors, artists, musicians, and builders. Whether coaching entrepreneurial pastors, leadership teams, or consulting with churches he has one passion—to see them coming alive, giving their unique talents, gifts, and creativity for the good of the world. When someone is fully alive in their life and work, the outcomes are powerful and their life is full of joy.

Drawing on research in leadership literature, research participants, and focus group interviews, Stephen's dissertation explored spiritual formation, mentoring, and peer learning among emerging pastoral leaders. Stephen enjoys exploring the high correspondence of leadership challenges in ministry, non-profit, and business leadership.

Shaynor Newsome, DMin

Shaynor grew up in Dallas and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Baylor University. After graduating he served a ministry to the homeless and at-risk teens. Later, he was a Hall Director at

Baylor, and then the European coordinator for a tour company; leading tours in Western Europe. After earning his MDiv at Truett Theological Seminary, Shaynor spent 12 years in campus ministry with Reformed University Fellowship at New Mexico State and Baylor Universities. He and his wife, Heather (B.A. & M.S. in Economics at Baylor), and their two kids, Jonathan (22) and Violet (11) moved to Eugene in December 2013. Shaynor recently completed a Doctor of Ministry also from Truett culminating in a dissertation on the importance of hospitality for ministry in a growing post-Christian culture.

They love the beauty and quirkiness of Eugene. Shaynor enjoys CrossFit, fishing, bowhunting, mixology, cooking, and a good nap. He's also a big fan of music; from the likes of the Avett Brothers, Sufjan Stevens, and Johnny Cash, to U2, Kendrick Lamar, and Chance the Rapper, and of course Journey and other 80's favorites. He and the family are big fans of all things Baylor and Dallas sports, and have readily adopted the Ducks as well. Go Mavs!

CO-FOUNDER

Karen Baldwin

Karen's earliest memories include her father going to the farmer's market, picking out the freshest vegetables and bringing them home to cook for his family. Her love of food was sharpened in Young Life's Windy Gap kitchen, a learn-and-work community in Bozeman, and years of reading and practice cooking for her

always hungry family and their friends. Karen received her culinary certification at Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, Ireland, and has been a chef, caterer, and cooking instructor. What she most loves is to give her gift of food to intimate groups that she and Stephen facilitate together. Though not a conference speaker per se, she has been an alternative voice for women's retreats and is appreciated as a wise teacher, mentor, and friend.

Stephen and Karen have been mentors for Serge (formerly World Harvest Mission), and were participants in, and subsequently researcher-facilitators of, the Pastors Summit, part of the Lilly Endowment's Sustaining Pastoral Excellence initiative.

Karen and Stephen have been married for forty-eight years and are immensely proud of their three adult children, Kelsey, David and Rachel, and their spouses Chip, Jennifer and Tim, and their nine grandchildren.
